Program Mission To develop registered dietitians with a strong research base to become leaders in the fields of food, nutrition, and health. Program Goals and Measurable Outcomes Goal 1. Prepare highly qualified registered dietitians. Over a 5-year period, interns will have completed 80% of the research portion of their thesis prior to entry into the DI. Interns will complete all requirements within 150% of the time planned for program completion. 80% of interns will take the RD exam within 1 year of program completion. The pass rate for program graduates taking the registration examination for the first time will be at least 80%. 70% or more of program graduates who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within three months of program completion. 75% of employers will rate performance of alumni as above average or outstanding. Goal 2. Prepare graduates who will demonstrate professionalism and strong research skills. Over a 5-year period, 80% of interns will be assessed as displaying professionalism "most of the time" or "almost always" by the preceptors. 80% of interns will be assessed as having strong research skills "most of the time" or "almost always" by the preceptors. 75% of employers will rate interns as skilled at fostering excellence and exhibiting professionalism. 75% of interns will publish at least 1 peer-reviewed manuscript from their thesis research within 24 months of program completion Goal 3. Train dietetics professionals to become leaders in their chosen fields and aid in their development and professional growth. Over a 5-year period, 80% of interns will be assessed as displaying professionalism "most of the time" or "almost always" by the preceptors. 80% of interns will be assessed as displaying leadership ability "most of the time" or "almost always" by the preceptors. 80% of graduates will feel that they received "above average or superior" preparation for their chosen career. 80% of employers will rate graduate job performance as "above average or outstanding." 75% of employers will rate interns as skilled at assessing professional strengths and weaknesses and identifying needs for professional development. 25% of graduates will seek a leadership role in a local, state or national professional organization.
